5-stage plumbed-in reverse osmosis
Osmonic 5-190 is a budget-priced 5-stage reverse osmosis system, designed with standard, low cost Filter replacements in mind. Universal standard size 10" (245-250 mm) filter cartridges are used, producing approx. 190 litres per day (about 7 litres per hour*).
Osmonic 5-190 incorporates a sediment pre-filter, carbon pre-filter, 2nd sediment pre-filter, carbon post-filter. All Filters are standard 25 ml/10" size, fully disposable. Osmonic uses standard size TFM membrane.
After the membrane, product water passes into the (air) pressurised storage tank; and passes through the final 5th carbon 'polishing' inline post-filter (fully disposable), when water is drawn via the filter faucet on demand.
Paying $1000 - $1400 for a Reverse Osmosis system does not mean it produces purer water. Osmonic has all the qualities you need, all the stages you could ask for, without paying high profit margins.

The self-cleaning process is unique to Reverse Osmosis and is crucial for its ability to maintain the highest possible water quality, before membrane replacement is needed. Expelling impurities, pollutants and bacteria to drain enables continual optimum performance and reliability, unlike common filters which store the chemicals, and sometimes big bacteria, within the filter, month after month.
The 'self-cleaning' water flushed to drain costs a family only $10 to $15 per year on average, for cooking and drinking needs. If you wish, you can have the drain tube go through a small 6ml wall/floor hole, onto the garden instead.

It's a simple 3-step job for a plumber, which involves everyday kind of tasks - connect the tee-piece onto the mains cold water pipe, drill a 6 ml/1/4" inch hole in sink, and connect 'waste' tube to the drainpipe, with drain saddle supplied. That's it. The unit is usually connected in about an hour, if the pipes are standard accessible pipes, normal sink etc. (Note: tap can also be installed into stone or wooden benches if required).
Taking your Purifier with you when you move house? A simple $28 2-piece kit can seal up the 'evidence' left behind.
Dimensions:
complete filter manifold: height (from top of steel mounting bracket) 45 cm, width 37 cm, depth 19 cm. Can lay on side or back if necessary.
Storage Tank: 40 cm high, 28 cm wide. Note; you can lay tank on side (cradle supplied) to make 30 cm high.
Osmonic includes complete approved parts (brass) for standard installation (12 ml/1/2") i.e. self-flaring tee-piece, isolating non-return stop valve, as well as tubing, housing spanner and swiveling faucet. Storage tank is powder-coated steel, not plastic.
* Exact flow rate depends on your mains water pressure, so average rate is estimated.
